Bonaire Night Snorkeling
Tour Details
Did you know that many marine species only reveal their true behavior after sunset? To witness this in the waters of Bonaire, we'll meet at the appointed time at Kaya Amsterdam.
After a brief safety briefing, we'll equip ourselves with a wetsuit, fins, snorkel goggles, and an underwater flashlight. From the shore, we'll enter the water and feel the darkness envelop us in a calm glow. It'll be almost hypnotic!
The light from our flashlights will reveal sparkles on the corals, some sleeping fish and creatures that emerge to hunt under the cover of night. When you least expect it, the stars of the Caribbean Sea will appear on the coast of Bonaire at sunset: the tarpon.
These shiny silver fish will glide elegantly around us. These specimens, which can exceed 1.5 m (5 ft) in length, will use the light from our flashlights to stalk their prey, offering us a hunting spectacle that is as exciting as it is harmless to humans.
But we won't be alone; we'll also be able to see octopuses peeking out from among the rocks, lobsters, and squid moving like fleeting shadows. Each sea creature will reveal a secret of this underwater universe that remains hidden during the day.
After between 45 minutes and an hour floating in this unique setting, we'll return to shore. Still buzzing with the adrenaline rush of having been privy to an intimate ocean ritual, we'll remove our snorkeling equipment and wetsuits.
Finally, we'll say goodbye after an unforgettable hour and a half. See you next time!
